Built on Family, Experience, and a Higher Level of Veterinary Care in Danbury, CT

There is something reassuring about walking into an animal hospital that has been part of the community for decades, especially when that same hospital continues to grow, invest, and adapt as veterinary medicine changes.

Plumtrees Animal Hospital has been family-owned and operated in Danbury since 1981. Over the years, the hospital has grown from one generation of veterinarians to the next while staying focused on the same goal: providing attentive, capable care for local dogs and cats without losing the personal feel of an independent practice.

Today, families from Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Newtown, and Ridgefield come to Plumtrees for everything from preventive care to more complex medical needs, including emergency care during business hours, overnight monitoring, advanced diagnostics, and access to visiting board-certified specialists.

Family-Owned Since 1981

Plumtrees Animal Hospital began with Dr. Baff’s father and has remained in the family for more than 40 years. That history shapes the way the hospital operates today.

Being family-owned means decisions can stay focused on the needs of patients, clients, and the team rather than following a corporate formula. It also means many families have returned to Plumtrees through multiple generations of pets.

That continuity matters. Our team gets to know your pet’s history, your concerns, and the details that can make future visits easier.

A Hospital That Has Grown with the Community

The Plumtrees you see today has changed significantly since its early years. In 2013, the original building was taken down and rebuilt from the ground up to create a more functional veterinary hospital with updated clinical spaces, including diagnostic imaging and a dedicated surgical suite.

The hospital continues to evolve, with additional renovations underway to refresh the space and add another exam room.

Our layout also includes separate areas for hospitalized cats and dogs — affectionately known as “Cat Land” and “Dog Land” — to help reduce unnecessary stress. We also maintain an isolation area for contagious cases and an oxygen cage for patients who need respiratory or cardiac support.

Specialty-Level Care Without Leaving Your Local Hospital

One of the biggest differences at Plumtrees is the access our patients have to visiting board-certified specialists.

A cardiologist visits the hospital twice each month for advanced cardiac evaluations, while internal medicine support is available weekly for services such as abdominal ultrasound. A board-certified surgeon also performs advanced procedures in our surgical suite, including orthopedic and more complex soft tissue procedures.

This model allows your pet to receive advanced diagnostics and procedures in the same hospital where their medical history is already known, while your Plumtrees veterinarian remains involved in coordinating care.
