Plumtrees Animal Hospital has been family-owned and operated since 1981, and that sense of continuity extends to the way we care for our patients. Our veterinarians have completed post-doctorate training and bring emergency medicine experience to their work, giving them a strong foundation for managing everything from everyday preventive care to cases that require a little more investigating.

Our Veterinarians

  • Dr. Wesley Baff

    Dr. Wesley Baff, a 2006 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, joined Plumtrees Animal Hospital as a full-time veterinarian in 2007. Born and raised in the Greater Danbury area, he is a graduate of Newtown High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Dr. Wesley Baff completed a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City in 2007. He is a member of the CVMA and the AVMA. His professional interests include small animal internal medicine and oncology, as well as general wellness and preventative medicine. In his free time, Dr. Baff enjoys baseball and building terrariums.

  • Dr. Shalmalee Kotwal

    Dr. Shalmalee Kotwal hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She then completed a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at VREC in Norwalk, CT. She is available for sick and well patient appointments during the day, weekends, and evenings. In her free time, Dr. Kotwal enjoys cooking and singing.

  • Dr. Kathryn Dettmering

    Dr. Kathryn Dettmering was born and raised in Danbury. Since a young age, it has been her dream to help animals and become a veterinarian. Before graduating from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2026, she served at Plumtrees Animal Hospital as a veterinary technician for eight years. She has a passion for general wellness and preventative care, as well as small animal internal medicine. In her free time, Dr. Dettmering enjoys reading and crocheting.
